Time Commitment: 5 to 10 hours weekly

Fuerte Arts Movement is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering communities across Arizona to advocate for social and economic justice. Our mission is to build grassroots power and mobilize directly affected communities to address systemic issues and create positive change in their neighborhoods.
Position Description
Fuerte Arts Movement is seeking a passionate Popular Education Fellow candidate who will take initiative, pay attention to detail, think “outside the box,” and thrive working independently, in collaboration, and on a deadline. The Popular Education Fellow will be responsible for gathering, synthesizing, and implementing community education units to leaders and community members from diverse backgrounds and knowledge backgrounds around issues of economic justice and civil rights. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and leadership skills, a commitment to equity and inclusion, and a demonstrated ability to build relationships and drive collective action. Popular Education Fellows will report directly to the Deputy Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Fuerte staff and members to complete mission
- Gathering and curating training materials for Fuerte community, members, and partner organizations
- Research housing, immigrant community, and election/voter issues
- Track relevant State and Federal legislation/policy
- Create fun and innovative training materials including but not limited to zines, slide shows, videos, and social media content
- Use a train the trainers/teach-in approach to disseminate community education
- Offer trainings virtually and in small groups
- Plan and host community events and small in-person events
- Attend advocacy and community meetings (both virtual and in-person) with local and national representatives
Qualifications
- Spanish-English Bilingual
- Exceptional writing and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Create graphics with programs such as Canva, etc.
- Knowledgeable with Google Suite programs such as Docs, Slides, Sheets, and other browser based softwares.
- Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills
- Ability to assess success and adjust based on participant reaction and understanding
- Experience giving presentations and public speaking to groups of no more than 30 people
Preferred:
- Prior experience with canvassing, community organizing, or sales.
- Proficiency in Spanish or other languages spoken in the community.
- Familiarity with housing, racial or economic justice or civic engagement issues.
