Fuerte Arts Movement is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering communities across Arizona to advocate for social and economic justice. Our mission is to build grassroots power and mobilize directly affected communities to address systemic issues and create positive change in their neighborhoods.

Position Overview:

Fuerte Arts Movement is seeking a passionate and dedicated Community Organizer to join our team. The Community Organizer will work closely with community members, leaders, and partner organizations to organize and mobilize residents around issues of social, economic, and environmental justice. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and leadership skills, a commitment to equity and inclusion, and a demonstrated ability to build relationships and drive collective action. Community Organizer will report directly to Program Manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Community Engagement:
    1. Build relationships with community members, leaders, and stakeholders to understand their needs and concerns.
    2. Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events to raise awareness and mobilize residents around key issues.
    3. Conduct outreach and recruitment efforts to engage new participants and expand the organization's reach.


  • Leadership Development:
  1. Identify and develop emerging leaders within the community through training, mentorship, and leadership development programs.
  2. Empower residents to become effective advocates and organizers for social and economic justice in their neighborhoods.
  3. Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and empowerment within the organization and the communities we serve.


  • Campaign Development and Implementation:
    1. Collaborate with community members and partner organizations to develop campaign strategies and action plans.
    2. Lead grassroots organizing efforts, including door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and community outreach activities.
    3. Mobilize residents to take collective action, including attending rallies, marches, and public hearings.


  • Data Management and Reporting:
    1. Collect and maintain accurate data on community engagement activities, campaign progress, and outcomes.
    2. Prepare regular reports and updates on programmatic activities, accomplishments, and challenges.
    3. Utilize data and analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of organizing strategies and inform future decision-making.


  • Training and Managing Issue-Based Campaigns:
    1. Develop and lead training sessions on Fuerte Arizona's key issues.
    2. Create educational materials and resources for workshops.
    3. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives.
    4. Empower members with advocacy skills and strategies.
    5. Drive positive change by inspiring action and engagement.


  • Coalition Building:
    1. Cultivate and maintain partnerships with community-based organizations, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to amplify our collective impact.
    2. Represent Fuerte Arts Movement in coalition meetings, events, and collaborative initiatives.
    3. Work collaboratively with partner organizations to advance shared goals and priorities.



Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community organizing, grassroots advocacy, or related work.
  • Strong commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in organizing community events, meetings, or campaigns.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and social media for advocacy and outreach.
  • Knowledge of Arizona's social, economic, and political landscape is a plus.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary to transport supplies, materials, volunteers, and members.
